Endless Motivation
I love to hear the stories and understand precisely what it takes to be a great pool player. I like to practice and dream while listening too. I cannot wait for the next episode!
An Insightful Look at Billiards History
Pool history needs to be heard by the general public. It's their (the pool legends) history, and our (the laymen in the pool world) source of inspiration... if that makes any sense. The general public needs more out there about the history of the pool world and Mark does an excellent job of telling the story of pool and delivering that image in living color. This is of course great for the image of pool, because now everyday people not privy to what billiards is all about can understand its upbringing and maybe relate to it a bit more. This podcast puts pool out there more, in a nutshell. Pool is already projected to increase in popularity over the next several years, and with publicity like this it helps even more. Love seeing these things to help grow the sport! "Their hiSTORY, our INSPIRation."
A Coach, a Mentor, and a Legend Behind the Mic
“Legends of the Cue” isn’t just a podcast—it’s a cherished time capsule preserving the spirit of the game I love. As a proud student of Mark Wilson through the Lindenwood Billiards Program, this show carries extra meaning for me. Mark isn’t just a coach—he’s been a mentor, a role model, and a true father figure. He’s given me opportunities, guidance, and introduced me to some of my closest friends. Hearing him share stories and preserve the history of cue sports makes me grateful all over again for the lessons he’s taught me on and off the table. While I’m deeply saddened that Lindenwood University ended the billiards program, I will forever be thankful for the time I’ve had under his guidance. And a special shout-out to Kathy - Mark’s wife whose cookies could win championships of their own! Thank you, Mark, Allison, Mike, and everyone behind Legends of the Cue, for giving the game and its people the respect and voice they deserve. This podcast is a treasure. “Note: I originally left a 5-star rating for this podcast, but for some reason it ended up showing 3 stars (edited back to 5 stars, well deserved). Please double-check your own rating after posting to make sure it reflects what you intended.”
very awesome
Loved it. Mark is the best and his book is amazing! Keep up the great work!
Phenomenal new podcast!!!
This podcast is both fun and informative. The pool history is so very colorful and has fantastic characters. The main reason this is a notch above other pool show, is the exceptional host they are both very knowledgeable but also have first hand knowledge of and known so many of the famous and infamous people in pool. Hope this is the beginning of a long run!!!! 🥂🥂
3 GOATS
Mike Gonzalez, I'm thrilled to have you on the team with these two folks I have had a bit of history with... Mark is the only pool instructor I've ever had and the only one I've ever needed. I refer to his book, which I call the "Bible of Pool," many times a week, and I'm still reading it. My first-hand experience with Allison was many years ago as a league player in St. Louis. A friend of mine won the party with Allison contest that APA had every year, and Allison came to my home bar to do her "Party" / Exhibition. We all had a great time, and Allison even showed me a kickshot that I still use to this day. She is a warm, friendly, and lovely person. And by the way, Allison, I still owe you a six-pack of beer. We bet on our "beat the pro" game. I think I made two balls. Played a lockdown safety, and she ran out! LOL. And to show you what kind of person she is... 2 years later, I'm at the APA championships in Las Vegas and Allison is there. I'm walking down the long hallway to the main room, and I see that Allison is coming down the hall towards me. She was completely inundated with well-wishers and fans, so I decided not to say anything to her. Well, she passed me by with a glance, but about 3 seconds later. I hear her voice coming from behind me, saying, "You still owe me a six-pack of beer!" That tells you everything you need to know about Allison Fisher. Allison, I think you're the GOAT of women's pool, and Mark, I think you're the GOAT of pool instruction! And Mike Gonzalez, I'm beginning to think you might be the GOAT of podcasting, completely prepared with research about your guests, and you do a great job of moving the conversation along. You make it very entertaining. Your podcast is a huge thing for our community. I love it! I am really enjoying listening about Allison's life in and away from pool, and I can't wait to hear Mark's. I'm really looking forward to all of the other Hall of Famers and greats that you guys will interview. All three of you are amazing on the podcast, and it's now my number one podcast. I am sharing it with everybody in my pool community here in Western Massachusetts. Keep up the great work, I'll be listening!
Love it!
Legends of the Cue isn’t just a podcast, it’s a living time capsule of the soul of professional cue sports. With each episode, Alison Fisher, Mark Wilson and Mike Gonzalez invite us into the inner sanctum of the game: not just what happens on the table, but what happens in the heart. This is no ordinary roundtable. Mark brings the deep-rooted wisdom of a coach and commentator who has seen the game evolve over decades. Alison offers not just her Hall of Fame star quality, but a rare, gracious candor that breathes life into every reflection. And Mike Gonzalez rounds out the trio with a vibrant, grounded perspective that makes every listener, whether a seasoned pro or a curious newcomer feel personally connected to the reflection of these heart felt experiences. What makes Legends of the Cue magnificent is its depth. It’s not a string of interviews or highlight reels. It’s a curated journey through the history, humanity, and heritage of life on the road, in the practice room, and under pressure. The stories shared are raw, funny, humbling, and extremely profound in that never knew it before now kind of way. From tales of childhood hustle to world championship pressure, from forgotten road players to defining career moments, there’s a heartbeat behind every rack. Production-wise, the podcast is a class act, clean and clear. I feel like I'm sitting in a leather chair at a pool hall, coffee in hand, listening to legends talk late into the night. There's intimacy and intention in every minute. But above all, Legends of the Cue matters. It documents a world that deserves reverence. It bridges generations and brings dignity to a sport too often misunderstood. It ensures that the voices and experiences that shaped this game are not lost to time. This podcast is a gift. A love letter. It's essential listening for anyone who has ever chalked a cue, chased a dream, or simply fallen in love with the magic of the game. Bravo to Mark, Alison, and Mike. You’re not just telling stories, you’re preserving a legacy.
The Duchess Goes Podcasting
Cannot wait to listen to this podcast. The stories of pool’s greats need to be told and I can’t think of a better person to tell them!
